Admission, tuition and scholarship rules vary, so compare institutions within the correct system rather than using one national fee or deadline.

The Flemish portal covers Dutch-speaking higher education, including institutions in Brussels, and distinguishes universities from universities of applied sciences and arts. The Wallonia-Brussels portal covers French-speaking institutions. Brussels is therefore not a single education or language category. Explore bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral routes. For a PhD in French-speaking Belgium, the official guidance calls for a research proposal, a supervisor’s agreement and a financial plan. For Flanders in 2026/27, the portal gives a general non-EU/EEA range of €5,300–€12,000 for a 60-ECTS full-time degree programme, with higher ranges for some arts programmes. The Flemish scholarship directory includes Master Mind and institutional awards. Check the current call, participating institution and nomination process before treating one as available to you. In Flanders, foreign qualifications are assessed for the intended programme; bachelor’s applicants may need evidence that their school qualification gives access to higher education at home. French-speaking Belgium’s portal advises early applications and describes end-March closure as common for non-EU applicants. This is guidance, not a universal deadline. Check whether the programme uses Dutch, French or English and what evidence is required. Flemish English-taught programmes commonly require at least B2, with programme-specific conditions. Choose the education community; shortlist institutions; obtain the correct fee and qualification-assessment instructions; and confirm the scholarship process. For research, identify a supervisor and ask whether the proposed funding is a salary, fellowship or other support and what it covers.
