PAUSE helps scientists and artists in exile continue their work in France. The programme co-funds placements at eligible host institutions in France. The host institution prepares and submits the funding application; you cannot submit it yourself. Scientists can also ask PAUSE for help with identifying a host.

Who it is for

Researchers, academics engaged in teaching and research, and eligible categories of doctoral students and artists at risk.

Next step

Check the eligibility criteria, prepare an academic CV and a project description, and identify a possible French university or research centre that could host you.

Important limitations

Financial difficulty alone is not sufficient: you must meet the risk and academic-status criteria. Meeting the criteria does not secure a host institution or funding.

Current call

The institutional application deadline published for the current cycle is recorded in the PAUSE 2026 call. The exact closing time was not established during verification.
