Write a clear CV for study applications

Your CV should make relevant education and experience easy to find. Use the format requested by the programme; Europass is one available tool.

Build the content before choosing a layout

List education, relevant work or volunteering, projects, skills, languages and awards. Put recent relevant experience first within each section. Use consistent month-and-year dates and the real names of institutions and qualifications.

Show what you did

For each important experience, state the task, your contribution and a concrete result where one exists. “Coordinated registration for a student workshop” is more informative than “excellent organisational skills.” Do not invent numerical results to make an entry look stronger.

Adapt and shorten

Choose the entries that help assess your preparation for the course. Give less space to unrelated tasks. Explain a study interruption briefly if needed to understand the chronology; you do not need to turn a CV into a detailed account of personal risk.

Make the file usable

Use readable text, clear section headings and a simple layout. Check whether the institution asks for a CV at all, a maximum length or information inside its own form. Export and reopen the final file. Keep one complete private CV and create tailored versions from it.
