An interruption does not tell a university what you can study next. A clear record of what you completed helps it assess your options.

Reconstruct your academic record

List the institution, programme, dates and completed subjects. Collect transcripts, course descriptions, exam results and available correspondence. Keep originals safe and distinguish formal records from your own explanatory notes.

Ask about three possible routes

You may need to apply for a new degree, request recognition of previous learning or explore a transfer route where the institution offers one. Ask which process applies before assuming you can enter the same year you left. A receiving university may assess individual courses separately from the overall qualification.

Explain obstacles accurately

If records are unavailable, say which ones and why you cannot obtain them. Ask whether alternative evidence or a specific displaced-applicant procedure exists. Avoid sending detailed evidence of repression in the first message; establish a suitable private route.

Choose a sustainable next step

Compare the time, language preparation and funding needed for each route. A short course can help you rebuild skills while preparing a degree application, but it may not carry recognised credit. Write down the next decision you need from the institution and the document that will help it answer.
